Organization overview:

One Acadiana (1A) is the Regional Economic Development Organization for the nine-parish (county) Acadiana Region, while also serving as the Chamber of Commerce for Lafayette Parish (the central business organization for Lafayette Parish). We are a business-led organization focused on making Acadiana one of the most sought-after places in the South for business and professional talent.

 

Representing roughly 600 businesses throughout a nine-parish area in South Louisiana, 1A is dedicated to moving the region forward. 1A is located in the City of Lafayette and serves a region of roughly 700,000 people with a vibrant culture and unique entrepreneurial spirit.


Position Overview:

Economic Development Coordinator's role is to support One Acadiana's core Business Development activities with the overall goal of attracting and retaining business to secure new payroll, jobs, and capital investments in the region. The Business Development Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Economic Development.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and collect and report on data as needed
    • Provide site selectors, prospects, economic development partners, and One Acadiana members and investors with data requests
    • Produce monthly economic vitals report for distribution
  • Gain a thorough understanding of Salesforce, manage changes to the Business Development platform, and communicate changes to team members
  • Identifying potential sites for development through:
    • Working in unison with local economic development practitioners in the identification of sites
    • Contacting landowners to secure an intent to participate in the site development program
  • Serving as One Acadiana's single point of contact between landowners, local economic development organizations, Louisiana Economic Development, and local government on site-related inquiries
  • Identifying potential buildings for commercial and industrial use (in coordination with the local real estate community)
  • Develop ongoing solid relationships with partners (i.e., local and state economic development professionals, utility providers, 1A leader, investors, etc.)
  • Provide companies information on programs available to support their growth such as workforce solutions, incentive programs, and state and federal business initiatives
  • Identify projects that could result in job and investment growth as well as companies at risk of closure or relocation outside of the region, communicate developments
  • Supporting all of One Acadiana's business development efforts and organizational mission
  • Participate in relevant continuing professional education


Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in developing reports and presentations
  • Ability to multitask and work under time pressure
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who is driven toward excellence and high achievement
  • Experience in Salesforce is preferred
  • Effective time management, excellent communications, upbeat/dynamic and outgoing personality traits are sought
  • Professional experience in business development or economic development preferred
